AFRICAN AMERICAN COLLECTIVE THEATER (ACT) MARKS 32nd ANNIVERSARY WITH LATEST LGBTQ+ SHOWCASE FESTIVAL
Washington’s African American Collective Theater (ACT) continued into its fourth decade with the latest installment of a program that has become an annual spring tradition in the District.
Thirty talented, local “ACT’ers” – some familiar faces, some new – presented Readers Theater-type performances of short plays, on
Sunday, May 26, 2024, with a matinee at 4:30 pm and a different show that evening at 7:30 pm.
Audiences chose either show…or attended one, break for dinner, then rejoined us for the other.
Inspired by, and mounted in observance of, DC Black Pride Weekend, the festival unfolded downtown at the Undercroft Theater, in the lower level of Mount Vernon Place Methodist Church at 900 Mt. Vernon Place, conveniently located diagonally across the street from the Westin – host hotel for the 2024 DC Black Pride Weekend festivities.
